"The Paralympic Summit aims to harmonize knowledge, public policies, plans, programmes and other useful tools to strengthen the sport for people with a disability in the Americas."

The first Americas Paralympic Committee (APC) Summit is currently underway in Bogota, Columbia. The summit, which began with the Conference of Paralympic Sport Development for America on 31 May – 2 June, is being streamed live on www.americasparalympic.org

Organized by the APC in co-operation with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and endorsed by the IPC Academy, the Paralympic Summit aims to harmonize knowledge, public policies, plans, programmes and other useful tools to strengthen the sport for people with a disability in the Americas.

The three-day conference with participants from 41 countries is composed of panel discussions, keynote speeches and workshops on various topics, such as the UN Convention on Rights for People with Disabilities, Paralympic Sport Development, Classification, Strategic Planning, Athlete Performance Pathway and many more.

The IPC is represented by Xavier Gonzalez, Chief Executive Officer, and two Governing Board Members, Miguel Sagarra (Spain) and Andrew Parsons (Brazil).
