The Austrian Paralympic Committee has appointed Walter Pfaller as Chef de Mission for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

This is the first time Pfaller, who has experience of Games from 2008 to 2012, will head the Austrian delegation.

"It is an honourable and very interesting task, while a major challenge. I am very excited about it. In London we were very successful with 13 medals.

Pfaller said: “Hopefully we can celebrate similar good performance in Rio. We have a few candidates for a medal here. But it is overall much more difficult.”

Julia Voglmayr has been appointed deputy head of delegation for what will be her third Games after being involved in London 2012 and Sochi 2014.
