Nearly a year after Prague staged the European Championships, Para Dance Sport returns to the Czech capital for the second edition of the Prague 2023 Para Dance Sport International Competition.

This will be the third consecutive year the city hosts an international event, with a total of 54 athletes (35 women, 19 men) from 15 countries to be in action this weekend (7 and 8 October 2023).

Kasicka to lead field

Among the top names to be in action in Prague 2023 is Slovakia’s three-time world champion Helena Kasicka, who will be competing in single freestyle 1 and single conventional 1 in addition to combi Latin and combi freestyle events along with her partner Martin Solc.

Kasicka would be aiming to continue her winning momentum after her incredible triple gold medal winning show at the Kosice 2023 World Cup last month. She will also hope to repeat her winning show of the European Championships this weekend.

The host will have Karolina Anna Dvorackova and Ian Kohout in combi events and Marcela Rasova in single conventional and freestyle 2, aiming to put up a strong show.

However, Rasova will have to face some strong challenge with dancers like Belgium’s Sofie Cox waiting to impress the weekend audience with her dance moves.

Kazakhs look to impress

In men’s single events, Slovenia's European medallist Amir Alibabic and Kazakhstan’s Ardak Otorbayev, the Bonn 2019 Worlds medallist, should fight off for the gold medal in men’s single freestyle 1 while Otorbayev’s fellow dancer Yermek Kalimbetov would be among the top names in men’s single freestyle 2 and conventional 2 events.

Kazakhstan will also have a few World Championships medallists who would be eager to put up a strong show in pair events. While Kalymbetov will pair with Atalykova Kulshum to mesmerise the audience in combi latin 2 and combi freestyle 2 while Otorbayev will combine with Aidana Beglenova for the honours in combi latin 1 and combi freestyle 1.

There are also several new names in the single and duo events with Kazakhstan, Germany and Brazil including new dancers in their line-up.
