The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) will be celebrating the one-year anniversary of the final day of the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games by announcing its 2011 Para-Equipment Fund recipients.

To celebrate the Games and acknowledge the strong government support for the Paralympic Movement in Canada, the Minister of State for Sport, the Honourable Gary Lunn will present some of the first pieces of equipment to be distributed in 2011 through the CPC's Para-Equipment Fund.

The Paralympic Equipment Fund creates pathways from the playground to the podium by enabling all Canadians with a disability to get involved in sport.

Since the Games there has been a greater demand in equipment requests at the development level.

In 2009-10, 26 organizations and clubs approached the CPC, which was able to support $50,000 in equipment funding; this past year 86 organizations approached the CPC which was to support $250,000 in equipment requests in part due to government and corporate partnerships.
