A total of 80 young athletes with a physical impairment between the ages of 14 and 18 took part in the International Paralympic Youth Camp in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 24 September – 1 October.

Hailing from eight different nations, the athletes participated in Paralympic Sport activities, workshops and clinics at the Ronald McDonald Centre, and they had the opportunity to interact with 12 Paralympians, including Dutch Wheelchair Tennis star Esther Vergeer and former American track and field star, John Register.

The athletes were trained to become ambassadors in their home countries, and provided some necessary skill sets to start up their own youth sport programmes.

The camp, which had previously been held in Turkey and South Korea, was organized by the Dutch Olympic Committee and Dutch Sports Federation, in collaboration with several partners in the Netherlands.
