Pinto and Jeong Win Boccia World Championships

Ho Won Jeong and Dirceu Jose Pinto were among the top winners at the 2010 Boccia World Championships in Lisbon, Portugal.

Taking place from 30 May to 10 June, the Boccia World Championships saw Korea’s Jeong win the BC3 class with a score of 10:0 against Portugal’s Jose Carlos Macedo who took second place. Coming in third was Singapore’s Mohammad Taha Nurulasyiqah Binte. Jeong also took the bronze medal in his class at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

For the BC4 class, Brazil’s Dirceu Jose Pinto took first, with Great Britain’s Stephen McGuire coming in second. Third place went to Brazil’s Eliseu Santos, who won 4-3 against host country’s Fernando Pereira. Pinto also took the gold medal in his class at the Beijing Paralympics, with Santos taking the bronze in 2008.

In the BC2 class, China’s Zhiqiang Yan took the top spot, winning 5-2 over Great Britain’s Nigel Murray. Coming in third place was Canada’s Adam Dukovich.

For the BC1 class, Ireland’s Padraic Moran took first, followed by Portugal’s Joao Paulo Fernandes, who also took the gold in Beijing. Thailand’s Pattaya Tadtong took third place.
