Proposals Sought For WADA Grants

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has officially issued its call for proposals for this year’s scientific research grants. 19 Mar 2009 By IPC

All scientists who are interested in submitting their research projects are encouraged to review the 2009 Instructions and Research Topics located on the WADA website (www.wada-ama.org). The deadline to submit research applications is 15 May 2009.

Past research projects funded by WADA fall under categories including compounds/methods enhancing growth and oxygen delivery, exogenous and endogenous anabolic steroids, project relating to prohibited list, and gene and cellular technologies applied to sports.

Since 2001, WADA has committed more than US$ 44 million to research, and of the 187 total projects approved, 66 have been completed and have contributed to advancing the science of detection. WADA continues to be committed to increasing the volume of research dedicated to developing new and improved detection for performance-enhancing substances and methods.

WADA is the international independent organization created in 1999 to promote, co-ordinate, and monitor the fight against doping in sport in all its forms. Composed and funded equally by the sports movement and governments of the world, WADA co-ordinated the development and implementation of the World Anti-Doping Code, the document harmonizing anti-doping policies in all sports and all countries.
