The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee presented the mascot design ideas for the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games mascots during a television programme on Channel One Russia on Monday, 7 February 2011.

These mascot design ideas have been shortlisted from more than 24,000 entries, which were submitted by the Russian public. The public is invited to vote for one of the three Paralympic mascot designs to determine the mascot for the Paralympic Games in Sochi in 2014.

This vote will take place on 26 February during a television show with participation of the mascots as well as sport and show-business stars from across Russia. The winners of the national competition for the best idea of the eventual mascot will also be announced on the show.

On 1 September 2010 the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee launched an all-Russia national competition to propose an idea of mascots for the 2014 Sochi Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Within 3 months anyone had been able to propose one or even multiple mascot ideas. More than one million people followed the competition online and every week a thousand new entries were submitted. Entries were accepted online or via post. Over 24,000 designs were sent to the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee before the close of the competition.
