SVT to give Sweden unprecedented coverage at Sochi 2014

At the Vancouver 2010 Games, Sweden won two bronze medals – one in cross-country skiing and one in wheelchair curling.

SVT, a national sports broadcaster in Sweden, have announced they will have a record number of hours devoted to live broadcast coverage of the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games.

Per Yng, SVT Sports Director, addressed the leaders of Sweden’s National Paralympic Committee and sport federations on Thursday (14 November), saying the network will offer daily primetime live coverage, with plenty of competition airing in ice sledge hockey, cross-country skiing and wheelchair curling.

As SVT will not be broadcasting the Olympics in Sochi, they will be completely devoted to giving the Paralympics full coverage throughout the Games.

Just recently, SVT reporters traveled to Torino, Italy, to cover October’s IPC Ice Sledge Hockey Qualification Tournament, where Sweden finished third and qualified for Sochi 2014.

At the Vancouver 2010 Games, Sweden won two bronze medals – one in cross-country skiing and one in wheelchair curling. They are eager to better that performance at Sochi 2014, when the Games take place from 7-16 March.
