UCI statement concerning Marcin Polak

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) announces that the Polish Para cyclist Marcin Polak has been sanctioned with a period of ineligibility of four years following an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) for the presence of Erythropoietin (EPO) in three samples collected on 19 May, 31 July and 2 August 2021.

In accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code (the Code) and the UCI Anti-Doping Regulations (UCI ADR), the period of ineligibility started on 27 August 2021 and is effective until 26 August 2025 (included).

The results obtained by the rider in between 19 May 2021 and 27 August 2021 have been disqualified.

This includes the bronze medal that Polak won in the men's 4000m individual pursuit at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games on 25 August.

France's Alexandre Lloveras and his pilot Corentin Ermenault will now be upgraded from their fourth place in the race to the bronze medal position.
