Only sports that are recognised by the IPC are eligible to apply to be part of the Paralympic Games sports programme.

Based in Monaco, UIPM governs the sports of modern pentathlon and recognises over 100 national federations.

As a recognised International Federation, UIPM has agreed to the IPC Medical Code, IPC Classification Code and World Anti-Doping Code, and its classification system is constantly being updated and improved to make competition as fair as possible.

The IPC recognises six other international federations: Badminton World Federation (BWF), International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (FIBT), International Handball Federation (IHF), International Hockey Federation (FIH), World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) and the International Federation of PowerChair Football Association (IFPA).

Only sports that are recognised by the IPC are eligible to apply to be part of the Paralympic Games sports programme.
