Paralympic and world gold medallists Russia will meet defending champions Ukraine in the semi-finals of the 2014 CPISRA Football 7-a-side European Championships

The Netherlands progressed to Thursday’s (30 July) semi-finals with a 3-0 win over Scotland.

Defending champions Ukraine will meet Paralympic and world gold medallists Russia in the semi-finals of the 2014 CPISRA Football 7-a-side European Championships after both secured empathic quarter final wins in Maia, Portugal on Tuesday (29 July).

Ukraine booked their semi-final spot with a convincing 6-0 win over Northern Ireland, whilst five different Russian players made the score sheet as they thumped England 5-1.

The other semi-final will be contested by the tournament’s two dark horses – Ireland and the Netherlands.

Ireland have been in terrific form in Maia. On Tuesday they extended their winning run to four matches with a 6-2 win over hosts Portugal, helped by two goals apiece from Aaron Tier and Tomiwa Badun. The Irish have now scored a whopping 29 goals in four matches, conceding just two, and will be confident of success over the Netherlands who they beat in the group stages 1-0.
