USA and Great Britain Sweep Through U25 Wheelchair Basketball Quarters

Great Britain, Australia, Canada and the USA were all victorious in Tuesday’s quarterfinals at the Women’s U25 Wheelchair Basketball Championships in Ontario, Canada.

Team USA put on the most impressive performance, pounding South Africa, 73-12, after taking a stunning 43-0 halftime lead. Mackenzie Soldan led the Americans with 14 points in the contest.

The USA will face Great Britain in Wednesday’s semifinals. Great Britain hammered Germany, 56-38, on Tuesday. Helen Freeman led the winning squad with 22 points and finished with a 89 percent success rate from the free-throw line.

Host nation Canada, meanwhile, beat Mexico, 63-48, with the help of an early 20-6 run in the first half. The Canadians will now challenge Australia in Wednesday’s semifinals. Australia edged past Japan on Tuesday with a 56-53 victory.
