The public now has until 12:00 (CET) on Thursday (6 March) to vote for which athlete it thought had the best performance last month.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has announced its shortlist for February’s Athlete of the Month award, and the public can now vote for the winner via the poll on the www.Paralympic.org homepage.

This month’s nominees include:

Marie Bochet (France): The standing skier won all three of her races at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup in St. Moritz, Switzerland, and finished the World Cup circuit as No. 1 on the overall women’s rankings across all classes.

Alessandro Daldoss (Italy): The visually impaired skier finished first on the men’s overall IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup rankings thanks to two second-place finishes in his downhill runs at the World Cup Finals on his home snow in Tarvisio. He also won the giant slalom earlier in the month at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup event in St. Moritz.

Toby Kane (Australia): The standing skier paid tribute to his late para-snowboard teammate Matthew Robinson with a stunning super-combined victory on the last day of the IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup Finals. He edged out Russia’s Alexey Bugaev by just one hundredth of a second.

Walid Ktila (Tunisia): The T34 Paralympic champion wheelchair racer broke world records across three distances – 200m, 400m and 800m – at the 2014 IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai, UAE.

Alexandra Rickham (Great Britain): She partnered with Niki Birrell to win gold in the SKUD 18 event at the 25th edition of the ISAF Sailing World Cup in Miami, Florida in the USA. The victory was extra special for Rickham, who originally spent a lot of time doing rehab in Miami in the 1990’s after a diving accident.

Matti Suur-Hamari (Finland): The 28-year-old rider won the last race at the IPCAS Snowboard World Cup Finals, which vaulted him to third place on the overall World Cup standings for the season.

The public now has until 9:00 (CET) on Thursday (6 March) to vote for which athlete it thought had the best performance last month.

The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and International Federations (IFs).
