Vote now for the Allianz Athlete of the Month – June 2015

Five para-athletes have been shortlisted for the Allianz Athlete of the Month poll for June 2015, and the public are now invited to vote for their winner via www.paralympic.org.

The nominations are:

Bethany Firth, Great Britain, swimming

Firth set her fourth world record of 2015 in the women's 200m freestyle S14 at the Scottish National Open Championships, adding to her 200m individual medley, 100m breaststroke and 100m backstroke marks from March, before withdrawing from the upcoming IPC Swimming World Championships due to a fractured wrist.

Jiske Griffioen, the Netherlands, wheelchair tennis

Griffioen captured the Roland Garros women's singles title, which bumped her to the No. 1 world ranking. Griffioen went on to capture her first BNP Paribas Open de France Super Series title.

Eduard Ramonov, Russia, football 7-a-side

Ramonov was voted the tournament's Most Valuable Player as Russia won their second straight 2015 Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships. His team also collected the Fair Play Award, which was voted by match officials on a match-by-match basis.

Maksim Sedakov, Russia, wheelchair dance sport

Sedakov recorded two perfect scores at the IPC Wheelchair Dance Sport Serbian Open in Belgrade, winning two golds with partner Svetlana Kukushina and the win in the men's singles.

Domingos Vieira, Portugal, boccia

Vieira upset Canada's No. 1 Marco Dispaltro in the quarter finals of the BC4 event, en route to winning gold at the World Open in Poznan, Poland. He also won gold in the BC4 pairs event with Pedro Clara.

The public has until 12:00 (CEST) on Thursday (9 July) to vote for the athlete they want to be the Allianz Athlete of the Month for June 2015 via the IPC's homepage.

The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and International Federations (IFs).

March - Maksym Nikolenko, Ukraine, table tennis

April - Nigel Murray, Great Britain, boccia

May - Martina Caironi, Italy, athletics
