The website for the 2016 IPC Wheelchair Dance Sport European Championships, being held in Kosice, Slovakia, between 28-30 October, is now live at www.paralympic.org/kosice-2016/.

The website is the place to find all information about the competition, which will feature nearly 100 of the world’s best dancers from 15 countries. This includes athlete interviews, the competition schedule, and information for teams and the media.

Kosice 2016 is will break new ground in wheelchair dance sport, as it is the first time the European Championships will take place over three days to accommodate the growing number medal events.

It will be the second time singles competitions are on the programme, having made their international debut at the Euros in Lomianki, Poland, in 2014.

Kosice is hosting the Championships as part of its status as a European City of Sport.

The 2014 edition in Lomianki featured 150 dancers from 20 countries. There were plenty of noticeable performances at the first European Championships since 2009.

In the combi standard class 1, the unranked Belarusian pair of Aliaksei Zukhtsikau and Veranika Kasach gracefully danced to the title ahead of Slovakia’s world champions Helen Kasicka and Peter Vidasic.

Ukraine’s double world champion husband and wife team Nadiia and Ivan Sivak were back on top in the duo Latin class 1 and 2, securing top marks no less than 24 times across all their dances in the final.

Daily reviews of all competition will be posted at the Kosice 2016 website, as well as live coverage on IPC Wheelchair Dance Sport’s Facebook and Twitter at @IPCWDS.
