Who should be Americas ‘Athlete of the Month’?

US snowboarders Brenna Huckaby and Mike Schultz, Argentina’s wheelchair tennis player Gustavo Fernandez and Canada’s alpine skier Mac Marcoux are the four shortlisted Para athletes for the Americas ‘Athlete of the Month’ poll for February 2018.

The public are invited to vote for their winner via the Americas Paralympic Committee homepage and have time to do so until Monday (5 March).

The nominations are:

Brenna Huckaby, USA, snowboard

Claimed two golds at the World Cup Finals, sweeping season titles in the women’s LL1 class, winning her first crystal globes in banked slalom, snowboard-cross and overall.

Gustavo Fernandez, Argentina, wheelchair tennis

Became the fourth player to win two ABN AMRO World Wheelchair Tennis Tournament singles titles after beating world No. 1 Alfie Hewett 7-6 (5), 7-6(4) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands,

Mac Marcoux, Canada, alpine skiing

Secured two downhill and two super-G victories at the last World Cup on home soil in Kimberley, to win the Crystal Globe in each of the events, as well as the overall 2017-18 World Cup crown.

Mike Schultz, USA, snowboard

Won double gold at the World Cup Finals, sweeping season titles in the men’s LL1 class, winning his first crystal globes in banked slalom, snowboard-cross and overall.

The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) from across the continent.

The only 2018 Americas Athlete of the Month winner is:
