World Para Dance Sport is deeply saddened by the news of the loss of British Para dancer Paula Moulton. The athlete passed away on Monday (26 June) at the age of 52.

Moulton and her dance partner Gary Lyness started dancing together in 2010 and made their international debut in 2013.

She represented Great Britain in two World Championships, Malle 2017 in Belgium and Bonn 2019 in Germany, competing in Latin and freestyle class 2 events.

Moulton also took part in three European Championships, twice in Lomianki, Poland (2014 and 2018) and once in Kosice, Slovakia (2016).

She became a celebrity in her country when she joined the TV show Britain's Got Talent in 2012, reaching the semi-final. Four years later, Moulton and Lyness founded the wheelchair dancing charity Strictly Wheels, providing Para dance sport classes in Manchester and raising awareness about the sport nationwide.

“Paula Moulton was a true ambassador for our beloved sport," Camila Rodrigues, World Para Dance Sport Manager, said. "For millions in her country, she represented the first time they saw a person with disability in a dance competition and heard about Para dance sport. Our thoughts are with her dance partner Gary Lyness, her family and friends.”
