She took up Para athletics in 2012 in Gaziantep, Turkey.
Why this sport?
She went to a local sports club for athletes with a visual impairment, where she initially played goalball before switching to shot put. She was not enjoying her new sport and was on the verge of quitting when coach Serhat Polat suggested she should try sprinting.
