Paralympic Day: Paris' Place de la République awaits thousands of fans on 8 October
The second edition of Paralympic Day will include performances in 14 Para sports and the presence of a vast list of Paralympians 26 Sep 2023
Paris and the world are getting ready for the second edition of Paralympic Day, which will be celebrated next 8 October.
Paris 2024, the French Government, the French Paralympic and Sports Committee (CPSF) and the City of Paris have in stock a vast field of play for Para sport through the whole Place de la République. From 11 a. m. to 7 p. m., tens of thousands of people are expected to get closer to Para sports and the Paralympic Games.
The sports on the programme of Paralympic Day 2023 are:
- Para judo
- Shooting Para sport
- Adaptive skateboarding
- Para rowing
- Wheelchair tennis
- Para table tennis
- Sitting volleyball
- Wheelchair basketball
- Blind football
- Boccia
- Para athletics for visual impairment athletes
- Virtual reality Para canoeing
- Para badminton
- Para handball
Visitors will also have the chance to meet American Paralympic archer, Matt "The Armless Archer" Stutzman, silver medallist at the Paralympic Games London 2012, and known over the world for practising Para archery using his legs and feet.
Many Para athletes from Team France will also be present throughout the day to share their Games experiences, memories and thoughts for this final year of preparations: Viknesh Anbarasan (blind football), David Auclair (shooting Para sport), Rémy Boullé (Para canoe), Yannick Bourseaux (Para triathlon), Vincent Descousse (Para canoe), Ugo Didier (Para swimming), Manon Genest (Para athletics), Michaël Jérémiasz (wheelchair tennis), Angélina Lanza (Para athletics), David Maillard (wheelchair fencing), Alexandra Nouchet (Para athletics), Ronan Pallier (Para athletics), Benjamin Pillerault (sitting volleyball), Charles Rozoy (Para swimming), and Loïc Vergnaud (Para cycling). Alongside them, Olympic athletes like Alain Bernard (swimming) and Sasha Zhoya (athletics) will add to the ranks of this French team.
Tickets for the Games are coming
Paralympic Day is celebrated on the eve of the launch of Paralympic Games ticket sales, which will start on 9 October, when 2.8 million tickets will go on sale, without a ballot, on the https://tickets.paris2024.org platform.
Nearly half of the tickets on sale will be available for EUR 25 or less, including 500,000 for EUR 15, in all the Paralympic sports. In addition to individual ticket sales, two new products with be on offer to the public: A “Family Offer” to take advantage of special rates and bring your children to experience the Games and Two different “Discovery Passes”, at the single price of EUR 24, to discover several Para sports on the same day.
