He credits his brothers, who were golfers, for their constant encouragement in his earlier swimming years. "They were there to support me. They knew when I had to be up at 04:30 in the morning, and they were going to do that with me and drive me [to training] on the mornings I wasn't too keen, they were like, 'No, you're going to enjoy this, it will be worth it in the long run'.
