He took up Para athletics in 2000 in Wroclaw, Poland.
Why this sport?
"I always wanted to be an athlete. When I was a little boy I wanted to play football, but due to my impairment, I couldn't sign for a club. Then, at a school for children with an impairment, I met my first coach who encouraged us to take up the sport."

I have travelled almost the whole world, places which I probably never would have visited if it was not for sport, so I'm happy that I decided to take up sport and that my career was like it was." SPORTING MARRIAGE
He met his wife, Marta Piotrowska [nee Langner], through sport, and the couple married in 2017. "We met at a training camp when she was 15 years old and I was 21. I waited a few years before we started to date and now we are married. I help her and she helps me at the stadium and sometimes during training. We are each other's biggest supporter."
