She began swimming competitively at age 11.

She tried ballet and dancing before she took up swimming. "In the water I feel freedom, so I can let out my energy."

She has up to 10 training sessions a week, going to the pool before school in the morning and then again in the afternoon. She also does strength and conditioning work in the gym.
