When and where did you begin this sport?

Growing up he was a keen volleyball player. He began athletics at Sao Sebastiao State School in Brazil and competed against able-bodied athletes.

Why this sport?

His school coach Ramon Tavares noticed his talent and enrolled him into a Para athletics programme held by the state of Pernambuco in Brazil.
