Impairment
At age 18 he fractured his spine after being hit by a car while he was riding his bicycle. His injuries resulted in the loss of mobility in his legs. (crhoy.com, 06 Aug 2017)

SUSPENSION
In October 2019 the International Paralympic Committee [IPC] announced that he had been suspended for two years after a urine sample he provided during the 2019 World Cup event in Lima, Peru, in May that year returned an adverse analytical finding for the prohibited substance N,N-dimethylphenethylamine. All of his results from 05 May onwards, including the gold medal he won at the World Cup in Lima, were annulled. His period of ineligibility was backdated from 05 May 2019 until 04 May 2021. PAINTING
He has always enjoyed art and decided to become a painter after his accident. His work focuses on landscapes in Costa Rica. "I like mountains, beaches, greenery, everything that is in Costa Rica." As well as his home country his work has also been exhibited in Argentina. (crhoy.com, 06 Aug 2017)
