Other information
SWITCH TO TRIATHLON
He was originally a para-swimmer until he switched to para-triathlon in late 2013. He switched because he felt that in order to compete at the highest level in para-swimming he would not be able to train and work fulltime, and he did not want to give up his job with the family business. ''National triathlon coach Bas de Bruin encouraged me to try para-triathlon. I am already a good swimmer, have cycled a lot as well, and I am fit enough to start running. You have to be good in three sports, but not the best in every sport.'' (aangepastsporten.info, 26 May 2014)

OCCUPATION
He works as a farmer, growing flower bulbs with the family business. He previously worked in the fields, but following his accident he switched to an administration and managing role. (aangepastsporten.info, 26 May 2014; boltha.nl, 2014)
