He first tried Para athletics in 2013 at a youth talent day organised by the Dutch Paralympic Committee [NOC*NSF].
Why this sport?
He was encouraged to take up the sport seriously after he set a Dutch national record in the javelin at his first competition. "Other sports became a problem because of my size and I always liked to throw things."

He has completed training as a furniture maker and in the shipping industry in preparation for a career after Para athletics. "Unfortunately, it is not like football where you are ready after your career and can enjoy all your money. I will just have to get back to work after my career.
