When and where did you begin this sport?
He began swimming in 2005 at the Sports Centre for Special People [CEPE] in Joinville, Brazil.
Why this sport?
He took up the sport as rehabilitation following his accident. "I started swimming about six months later because I was too fat. In 2009, I participated in my first international competition and this all started there."

Impairment
At age nine he was involved in an accident with a train that resulted in the amputation of his left arm and his left leg below the knee. "I never really cared about not having an arm and a leg. I don't know if it was because I was too young. In fact, I always liked it. I remember waking up with my mother crying and saying, 'Son, you lost an arm and a leg'. I replied, 'Mom, I'm hungry'.
