ANTI-DOPING EDUCATION

The International Paralympic Committee fully supports the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) view that the long-term solution to preventing doping is through effective values-based education programmes that can foster anti-doping behaviours and create a strong anti-doping culture.  We want athletes, coaches and other support personnel to have access to the knowledge they need to compete clean and avoid committing an anti-doping rule violation because they didn't know the rules.

For information about the IPC Anti-Doping Code and the Prohibited List visit the anti-doping home page.  Below is information, including useful links and downloads, to help educate and inform users about anti-doping.

WADA Anti-Doping Education & Learning (ADEL) Platform

ADEL is a global anti-doping learning and education platform, launched by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to support the new International Standard for Education (ISE) that took effect on 1 January 2021.  This new platform provides education and learning opportunities for the anti-doping community worldwide, including athletes, coaches, parents, medical professional and more.

Users can access personalised learning plans that are specific to their roles or pick from a range of education courses and information resources to meet their specific needs.  Courses are also available in a range of languages.

If you prefer to learn on the go or don't have reliable internet access, the platform also includes the 'ADEL by WADA' mobile App (available from the iTunes or GooglePlay stores) where courses can be downloaded and completed anytime later offline.

Users will need to register, creating a username and password, before they can access or enrol in the learning opportunities.

Education for Registered Testing Pool (RTP) Athletes

IPC recognises the 'ADEL for International-Level Athletes' course that is available on ADEL as meeting the requirements outlined in the ISE.  Athletes must submit a certificate to their NPC to verify successful course completion.

Recognised NADO/RADO Education Activities

The IPC acknowledges National Anti-Doping Organisations (NADOs) and Regional Anti-Doping Organisations (RADOs) as being the authority on education as it relates to clean sport within their respective countries.

IPC will recognise NADO and RADO education activities that meet the requirements of the ISE for RTP athletes (and others).  An activity could be, for example, an online learning programme or an in-person workshop.  RTP athletes are required to complete a recognised education activity every two years (at a minimum).  NADOs and RADOs seeking recognition of their education activities  for RTP (and other) athletes can click here to apply.

Following is a list of anti-doping education activities recognised by the IPC as meeting the requirements for educating RTP athletes:
