She took up athletics in grade eight at middle school in Sendai Prefecture, Japan.
Why this sport?
She won a competition at a Para athletics tournament in Tohoku, Japan, and this experience encouraged her to take up the sport more seriously. In 2019 she returned to competitive action in long jump after she last competed in 2009.
