LONDON, September 4
Abraham TARBEI (KEN) defended his Beijing 2008 T46 men's 1500m title and cut more than two seconds off his world record to 3:50.15. In a three-way battle over the last 200m, TARBEI held pole position coming into the home straight and never relinquished his place at the front. Wondiye Fikre INDELBU (ETH) took silver in 3:50.87 and Samir NOUIOUA (ALG) the bronze in 3:51:80, both men setting personal bests and also going under TARBEI's former world record.

"I thank God for this. It was not my achievement alone. I have said before it was my ambition to come here and to break our record which has come today, so I am very happy, very thankful." - Abraham TARBEI
