LONDON, 7 September
Long-distance runner Christian VALENZUELA (CHI) paced his race to
perfection and went past the long-time leader Jason Joseph DUNKERLEY
(CAN) with two laps to go in the T11 men's 5000m and then steadily moved
away from the Canadian before crossing the line in 15 minutes 26.26
seconds to take more than 30 seconds off his personal best.
DUNKERLEY added a silver medal to the 1500m bronze he won earlier in the Games with 15:34.07.

"We have a chance to talk because it is a long race. We talk about who is behind us. He (GUAJARDO) tells me, and I have to follow what he tells me. He told me to go in front and I had to, although I was exhausted...The people in Chile are going to be euphoric. I wanted to represent my country. I felt tired but I had to accomplish a dream that I had had for a long time." - Christian VALENZUELA said
