Sebastian WOLK (GER) had 13 points and Dirk PASSIWAN (GER) scored 12 as Germany eased to a 59-46 victory against Colombia in group B of the men's wheelchair basketball tournament.
The Germans, fresh from their 77-72 overtime victory against Great Britain on Thursday, burst into a 9-0 lead through Andre BIENEK (GER) and PASSIWAN (GER), while their opponents missed seven field goal attempts in the opening minutes.
Colombia did manage to find the basket through Guillermo ALZATE (COL) midway through the first quarter but Germany finished the quarter strong as a fast break steal from PASSIWAN found Thomas GUNDERT (GER) n the box for a 17-6 lead.
The Germans maintained their high performance level in the second quarter and extended their advantage to 24 points with Sebastian WOLK (GER) hitting five straight field goals.
Led by Rodney HAWKINS (COL), Colombia opened the third quarter with a 9-2 run as they closed to 40-23 and the fightback continued into the closing stages with HAWKINS helping Colombia to six unanswered points as he took his total to 16 points.
