He took up Para athletics at age 11 in Japan.
Why this sport?
His parents suggested that he should attend a camp for Para sports. He attended and initially took up both wheelchair basketball and Para athletics, but decided to focus on athletics after representing Japan at the 2013 Asian Youth Para Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. "I was fascinated by Para athletics because I can achieve results on my own if I do my best."
