“We are delighted to have worked closely with VANOC Technology and the IPC to help make the Paralympic Winter Games a world-class sporting success” said Patrick Adiba
From 12-21 March, 506 athletes from 44 countries competed in the Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Athletes competed in five sporting events that were held at four competition venues in Vancouver and Whistler.
As the lead technology partner, Atos Origin worked with the IPC, VANOC and the other Technology partners as one team to ensure the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games were a great success. Atos Origin was responsible for all aspects of the smooth and secure running of the Paralympic Games IT from designing and building the systems through to managing all the IT partners and running the critical IT infrastructure and networks, including the immediate distribution of Games results to the world.
Atos Origin applied the same technology to the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games as was used in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. For the first time ever in the Paralympic Games, the Olympic Print Distribution system was used. The technology used in Olympic Print Distribution, which is provided by Atos Origin, delivers print outs of event information, schedules and results.
Sir Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) said: “Atos Origin, did a marvellous job as the worldwide information technology partner. The Paralympic Winter Games were a tremendous success. Once again, Atos Origin has played a critical role in making these Games happen and enabling spectators worldwide to follow the spectacular achievements of the athletes as they happen.”
“The transition to and implementation of our IT systems for the Paralympic Winter Games went smoothly thanks to our dedicated and talented technology team and numerous volunteers,” said Patrick Adiba, Executive Vice President Olympics and Major Events, Atos Origin. “We are delighted to have worked closely with VANOC Technology and the IPC to help make the Paralympic Winter Games a world-class sporting success.”
Atos Origin began its active involvement with the Paralympic Movement in 2002. Atos Origin has been the IT Partner of the 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008 Paralympic Games. In January 2008, Atos Origin became the official Worldwide IT Partner of the IPC.
