BWF announces nominees for year-end awards

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has revealed the names of the eight Para athletes nominated for the year-end awards which will take place at the Players’ Reception and Gala Dinner in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Monday (11 December).

The list includes gold medallists from November’s Para Badminton World Championships in Ulsan, South Korea.

The nominees for Male Para-Badminton Player of the Year are Lucas Mazur (France), Jungjun Kim (South Korea), Sam Seop Lee (South Korea) and Cheah Liek Hou (Malaysia). Mazur and Lee are previous winners of the Male Para Badminton Player of the Year in 2016 and 2015 respectively.

The Female Para Badminton Player of the Year shortlist features Rachel Choong (Great Britain), Yuma Yamazaki (Japan), Sujirat Pookkham (Thailand) and Amnouy Wetwithan (Thailand).

The Male Para Badminton Player of the Year and Female Para Badminton Player of the Year will be chosen from among four contenders each by the BWF Awards Commission. Both shortlists consist of the year’s most outstanding athletes.
