The Cuijk 2020 Para Dance Sport International Competition, initially scheduled from 10-12 April in the Netherlands, has been postponed to August.

The new dates of the competition are from 28-30 August.

The postponement was announced by the Cuijk 2020 Local Organising Committee (LOC) due to the current restrictions in place in the country to confront the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The pandemic had already caused the cancellation of the Olbia 2020 International Competition in Italy, scheduled for May.

For the same reason, the Mainhatten Cup in Germany in May and the Lomianki 2020 Para Dance Sport Polish Open, scheduled for June, have been postponed.

The International Competition in Cuijk first took place in 1989 and is the one of the most traditional events in Para dance sport.

Last year, the Dutch city saw 85 dancers from 15 countries in action.

Ukraine dominated the events winning 11 gold medals, including five from five-time European champion Olena Chynka.

The Ukrainian won the women’s freestyle and standard class 2; and the duo standard, freestyle and Latin class 2 alongside Oleksandr Onishchenko.
