Great Britain, Norway shine at Sailing World Cup

“We have a long way to go, but it’s full speed ahead for Rio.”

Great Britain’s Megan Pascoe won the 2.4mR event and the Norwegian team of Aleksander Wang-Hansen, Marie Solberg and Per Eugen Kristiansen wrapped up a top finish in the sonar event at the ISAF Sailing World Cup in Miami, USA this past weekend.

Pascoe did not post a finish worse than second, winning her event by three points, as Canada’s Allan Leibel and Bruce Millar took silver and bronze.

The Norwegian trio, meanwhile, finished first in a field of eight by a nine-point margin, as the London 2012 bronze medallists won four of their races in the sonar class. Two American teams took the silver and bronze medals. Andrew Fisher, Mike Hersey and Ryan Levinson finished second, while Rick Doerr, Brad Kendell and Hugh Freund placed third.

“We’ve been working hard together for years now and it’s paying off,” Wang-Hansen told the ISAF.
