Classifiers and technical officials in Iran received invaluable training, as the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Iran held a Level 2 course during its national Para athletics championships, which began on 4 May.

International Paralympic Committee (IPC) classifiers and technical officials from around the world were invited to Iran to share their knowledge with Iranian Para sport staff, particularly in athletics.

A joint meeting was held with NPC Iran’s Secretary General Masoud Ashrafi, IPC classifiers and technical officials at the NPC’s headquarters to review all efforts taken for the courses.

Ashrafi received a report and feedback from the instructors about the participants. He then emphasised the importance of education in Para sport and gave them a background about the 13 education courses held in Iran, with this being the first focusing on athletics. These courses have been held at the Iran Sport Federation for the Disabled and also in National Paralympic Academy attended by more than 30 participants from across the country.
