"I think today, once again, the final was played on details: a technical foul in the final moments.”

The men’s wheelchair basketball team IRB Boufarik won the 2013 Algeria Cup trophy, beating Nour M'Sila, 41-38, on Saturday (19 May) in Algiers.

"With this new victory, it confirms our health and our domination of Algeria's wheelchair basketball. This is our second cup win in Algeria. Today it was hotly contested right until the final seconds. I must say it was a good team in front of Nour M'Sila," said the coach of IR Boufarik, Toufik Meddour.

"We wanted to win this trophy and we got through with the will of the players who believed to the end,” he added.

For his part, the coach of Nour M'Sila Mostefa Chikouche recognised the competition was hotly contested between the top two Algerian teams, for quite some time.

"I think today, once again, the final was played on details: a technical foul in the final moments,” he said.

After a first half, which ended, 18-13, in their favour the Boufarikois managed to maintain the gap and even increase to 31-22 with seven minutes to go. Nevertheless, repeated failures allowed their opponents to gradually return and equalise, 33-33, just four minutes from the end of the game.

IRB Boufarik found their way again using their technical skills to win the game with 32 seconds of play remaining.
