“Mr. Lee has a very strong understanding and sensitivity to the special needs and issues of the Paralympics."

The PyeongChang Organizing Committee selected Lee Moon-tae as executive artistic director for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games.

Currently president of Korean Traditional Performing Arts Foundation, Moon-tae has produced and directed entertainment programs at the Korean Broadcasting System, the largest TV broadcaster in Korea for more than 30 years, and also served at the Seoul Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.

His experience in television broadcasting, performance directing and understanding of people with disabilities were among the reasons for the Selecting Committee’s decision. The Selecting Committee was comprised of International Consulting Committee members Don Mischer, David Atkins, Konstantin Ernst and Sidney Kimme.

“Mr. Lee has a very strong understanding and sensitivity to the special needs and issues of the Paralympics,” the Selecting Committee commented. “And he has the ability to use technology and stadium space very well.”
