World Para Dance Sport has announced the 2017 competition calendar, which includes a pair of events in Asia following the success of its first ever regional Championships.

Athletes from around the world are aiming to get plenty of practice in ahead of the season-ending 2017 World Para Dance Sport Championships from 21-22 October in Malle, Belgium.

Dancers will open the year at the Cuijk Para Dance Sport event, from 15-16 April in the Netherlands.

The season then moves to Lomianki, Poland from 20-21 May for the Polish Open.

For the second straight year, Frankfurt, Germany, will host dancers for the Mainhatten Cup from 17-18 June, before competition begins in Asia.

After successfully hosting the inaugural Asian Championships last November, Chinese Taipei will welcome dancers again from 24-25 June for the Peikang Para Dance Sport Open.

The penultimate event prior to the 2017 Worlds will be on 17 September in Hong Kong for the Starlight Open.

World Para Dance Sport manager Camila Rodrigues said: “With this being a World Championships season, athletes from around the globe are looking to get as much preparation in as possible before October.

“I am sure these five competitions will therefore offer a lot of excitement and entertainment. Everyone will be able to see who the best dancers are in both couples and singles before they go for titles in Malle.

“I would like to thank all the organisers, new and established, for hosting competitions in this very important season.”

The complete 2017 events calendar can be found on World Para Dance Sport’s website.
