Canadian Para snowboarder Tyler Turner has been named the Best Male Winter Athlete in the Para Sport Award 2025 for his outstanding achievements in the 2024–2025 season.

Turner is one of Canada’s most outstanding Para snowboarders who capped off a stellar 2024–2025 season by claiming both the Crystal Globe trophy, awarded for winning the overall season standings, and his third consecutive world title in snowboard cross at the FIS 2025 Para Snowboard World Championships. He delivered this gold medal performance on home snow in Canada, making the achievement all the more special.

Competing in the SB-LL1 classification, he made history at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games by winning Canada’s first-ever gold medal in Para snowboard in the men’s snowboard cross, and added a bronze in banked slalom.

His success continued at the World Para Snow Sports Championships in Lillehammer 2021 (held in 2022 after the Covid-19 pandemic), where he earned gold in the team event, silver in snowboard cross, and bronze in dual banked slalom.

Tyler Turner said: “It is an absolute honour to be named the Best Male Winter athlete! There are so many winter athletes who are worthy of such an award, to be chosen is extremely special. I am incredibly grateful to compete against the best Para snowboarders in the world and represent my country at the highest level of Paralympic sport.

“I have to thank every member of Canada Snowboard and my family for making it possible to compete and have success at this level."

Off the slopes, Turner is an adventurer, motivational speaker, and extreme sports enthusiast, known for his resilience and passion for pushing boundaries. His journey from a life-changing accident to Paralympic champion has made him a symbol of perseverance and courage.
