Para Sport Awards 2025: Anna-Lena Forster named best female winter athlete
Germany's three-time Paralympian Anna-Lena Forster has been named the Best Female Winter Athlete in the Para Sport Award 2025 18 Nov 2025
Germany's Para alpine skiing star Anna-Lena Forster has been named the Best Female Winter Athlete in the Para Sport Award 2025 for her outstanding achievements across the 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 seasons.
Anna-Lena Forster is one of the most successful Para alpine skiers in the world with nine Paralympic medals to her name. At the 2023 World Championships, she dominated the competition, claiming four gold medals and one silver. Continuing her winning streak, Forster added another gold in slalom and a silver in giant slalom at the 2025 World Para Alpine Skiing Championships, where only two events were held.
Forster made her Paralympic debut at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games, where she captured two silver medals and one bronze in her first appearance. She went on to claim double gold at PyeongChang 2018 and added four more medals at Beijing 2022, including two golds. Beyond her Paralympic triumphs, Forster has secured numerous World Championship podium finishes and World Cup titles, with more than 40 race victories to her name.
“I was truly surprised and very happy to hear about this award. It's a great honour, and I'm deeply grateful for this recognition,” Forster said.
“Para sport has shaped who I am today. It has taught me resilience, focus, and self-belief — lessons that will stay with me for life. I'm proud to be part of a movement that empowers and inspires people around the world.”
Off the slopes, Forster holds a degree in psychology from the University of Freiburg and is an advocate for inclusion and mental resilience in sport. Twice named Germany’s Para Athlete of the Year, she continues to inspire through her athletic achievements and commitment to breaking barriers for people with disabilities.
The 2025 Para Sport Awards celebrate those whose efforts have contributed to strengthening the impact of Para sports worldwide. In addition to awards for summer and winter sport athletes, there are categories for coaches and volunteers.
