Bunschoten (39.95) was the only woman to drop below a 40 second run on her way to first place in the women’s SB-LL2.

Dutch riders Chris Vos and Lisa Bunschoten and the USA’s Michael Minor all secured their second IPC Snowboard World Cup victories in Landgraaf, the Netherlands, on Friday (20 November).

The wins mean that all three athletes got their 2015-16 campaign underway perfectly, going two-for-two in banked slalom on the indoor slopes of Snowworld.

Bunschoten (39.95) was the only woman to drop below a 40 second run on her way to first place in the women’s SB-LL2.

Australian 2015 World Championships silver medallist Joany Badenhorst (50.62) made it onto the podium in second. The USA’s Heidi Jo Duce (1:02.99) was third.

There was double delight for the US as Paralympic champion Evan Strong (29.28) was back on top in the men’s SB-LL2, ahead of world champion teammate Mike Shea (29.69).

Finnish rider Matti Suur-Hamari (32.09) completed the podium as he had done during Thursday’s (19 November) World Cup.

Success continued for the USA in the men’s SB-UL with another win for debutant Minor (31.77).

Austrian world champion Patrick Mayrhofer (32.53) had the chance to pounce after Minor’s first run was declared illegal. But Minor kept his head and cruised to his second win of the week in the following rounds.

Great Britain’s Ben Moore (32.79) was third.

The Netherlands’ Rinske van Beeke (1:25.28) saw off a challenge from Argentina’s Celeste Pedrosa Bersano (1:30.55) in the women’s SB-UL.

Seventeen-year-old double world champion Vos (34.75) leaves Landgraaf as the World Cup No.1 in the men’s SB-LL1.

He led Austria’s Reinhold Schett (34.90) and the USA’s Mike Schultz (38.37) onto the podium.

France’s Paralympic silver medallist Cecile Hernandez-Cervellon (42.05) was the victor in the women’s SB-LL1, reclaiming the first place she had lost to the USA’s Brenna Huckaby (43.05) the day before.

Huckaby’s compatriot Nicole Roundy (1:12.77) was third.

Full results and World Cup standings are available at IPC Snowboard’s website.

The World Cup circuit will now move to Aspen, USA, for snowboard-cross between 5-6 February.

Around 70 athletes from 17 countries have competed in Landgraaf in the first races of the season.
