Vote for March’s Allianz Athlete of the Month

Freshly crowned world champions on the shortlist 03 Apr 2019 By IPC

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has revealed the shortlist for March’s Allianz Athlete of the Month, and the public can now vote for the winner on www.paralympic.org.

The nominations are:

Lisa Bunschoten, Netherlands, snowboard

Captured her first major career golds at the World Championships in Pyha, Finland, winning both women’s banked slalom and snowboard-cross SB-LL2 titles.

Maximiliano Espinillo, Argentina, blind football

Instrumental in Argentina’s retention of their World Grand Prix title in Tokyo, Japan, scoring both goals in their 2-0 win over England. As a result, he was awarded the Most Valuable Player Award and was joint top goal scorer.

Paige Greco, Australia, track cycling

The 22-year-old debutant won the women’s 3km individual pursuit in world record time before going on to set world records also in the women’s 500m time trial C3 and 200m flying sprint C3.

Maxime Montaggioni, France, snowboard

Came back from a heartbreak injury at PyeongChang 2018 to win both men’s SB-UL disciplines at the World Championships in Pyha, Finland.

Haitao Wang, China, wheelchair curling

Skipped his team to a historic World Championship gold medal. Executed a perfect take-out to secure his team the gold over Scotland.

The public has until 12:00 (CEST) on Wednesday (10 April) to vote for the athlete they want to be the Allianz Athlete of the Month for February 2019 via the International Paralympic Committee homepage.

The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and International Federations (IFs).

The 2019 winners are:

January – Jeroen Kampschreur, NED, alpine skiing

February – Yujie Li, CHN, taekwondo
