Who should be February’s Allianz Athlete of the Month?

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has revealed the shortlist for the Allianz Athlete of the Month for February, and the public can now vote for the winner on www.paralympic.org.

The nominations are:

Carina Edlinger, Nordic skiing, Austria

Guided by her brother Julian, Edlinger won two golds and one silver at the Vuokatti World Cup in Finland to retain the crystal globe in the women’s vision impaired category.

Brenna Huckaby, snowboard, USA

Huckaby went two-for-two in the World Cup Final in Big White, Canada, to sweep all three crystal globes.

Mac Marcoux, alpine skiing, Canada

Marcoux won four races out of four at the World Cup Finals on home soil in Kimberley to secure the overall 2017-18 World Cup crown, guided by Jack Leitch.

Folashade Oluwafemiayo, powerlifting, Nigeria

The reigning world champion cleared the bar at 146kg in the women’s up to 86kg to win gold at the Fazza World Cup, a 1kg increase from the world record she had set last year at the Mexico City 2017 World Championships.

Jesper Pedersen, alpine skiing, Norway

The teenager achieved second and third place finishes at the World Cup Finals in Kimberley, Canada, to win his first crystal globe in the men’s sitting.

The public has until 12:00 (CEST) on Tuesday (6 March) to vote for the athlete they want to be the Allianz Athlete of the Month for February 2018 via the www.paralympic.org homepage.

The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and International Federations (IFs).

The 2018 winners are:
