He began swimming at age three, and started training seriously at age seven with the aim of competing in national tournaments.
Why this sport?
"I started as part of my rehabilitation, doctors recommended swimming as it helped my spine be more straight. I wanted to do other sports, but when I started to compete in swimming I loved the atmosphere and I stayed."

Doctors have offered to amputate his impaired right arm, but he has refused. "When swimming, my arm without mobility drags in the water. For some athletes, the solution to improve their times is to amputate the limb. I was offered to amputate my arm, but I have always refused.
