Other information
LATE REGISTRATION WORRIES
In 2020 he said that one of the reasons he failed to win a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia or at the 2019 World Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was because he didn't know whether he would be competing at each tournament until a month before the event. "This is the stress I have before competition. I hadn't been registered until the month before I was sent to compete [at both events]. So despite being evenly matched with my competitors, I had to content with the stress of not knowing whether I'd actually compete or not. This kind of stress has affected my performances." (irna.ir, 09 Jan 2020)

FUNDING STRUGGLES
In January 2020 he said he was unemployed and was paying for all of his training and travel expenses out of his own pocket. In August 2021 he said his situation was the same and he had still not received any assistance from sporting authorities in his home nation. "I have been training under difficult conditions for many years. The federations or the officials have not helped to pay for any assistance or any salary. I am not even covered by insurance [when travelling to compete]." (irna.ir, 09 Jan 2020; irna.ir, 02 Aug 2021)
