He took up the sport in 1998 in Campeche, Mexico.
Why this sport?
He accompanied his twin brother to an athletics session promoted by the Campeche Autonomous University. He asked for an opportunity to start training, so the coaches tested him and decided he had the potential to be a long jumper.
